East Anglia's number one drum school.... How much do lessons cost? £20/hr in the studio (with the exception of discounts and offers) Can I feel safe having you teach my child? I have taught in numerous schools and undergone CRB checks for each one (Up tp date). I also received child protection training from the local authority music service. You are welcome to stay with you child in lessons if you wish. Any other references or questions I'm happy to help. How much do drums cost? Basic sets start at around £150 for a full size starter kit (kits that come with everything), up to just about anything. Mid range kits are around £500-£800. You should also check out the second hand market. Are starter kits any good? Obviously you get what you pay for, but starter kits aren't a bad way to begin and learn on. You can always upgrade and improve at a later date without losing too much. Electronic kits are always another possibility for learning on. Check out the second hand market. How long does it take to get good? Different people learn at different rates but with dedication and regular practise you could be up to performance level between 1-2 years. It is vital that you practice as much as possible. If you enjoy playing, you should want to practice even if its on a pad whilst watching TV. Are lessons available at my home? Considered on an individual basis, but local tuition within 25 miles £30/hr. You must have a kit set up at home. What do exams entail? Exams are beneficial in many ways, and carry considerable weight. Exam consists of 1 or 2 Rudimental studies, 2 pieces (1 with a backing track), and 2 further tests from Aural, Sight reading or Improvisation. What real value do exams have? Grade 5 considered GCSE C, Grade 8 an A-Level. They now also provide UCAS points. Also proves to en employer or band that you are dedicated and are willing to learn and improve. Some institutions require a minimum level. What is the point of learning multiple styles? Learning many styles obviously helps you to be versatile and not think in such an obvious way. It can greatly improve your 'feel' in groove playing, solos, fills etc What is a drum clinic? Drum clinics are about creating a drum community.A chance to watch and meet experienced performers and tap into their approach. Examples are questions and answers, solos, playing along to tracks, exercises broken down. |
